Longing [Five Minute Friday Link-up]

I need to get myself back into the habit of writing consistently, and I found a fun way to practice by being part of this Five Minute Friday link-up. All I have to do is write unedited for five minutes, post a link to my writing and encourage another participant or two via encouraging comments. I can do that!

This week's FMF writing prompt is: LONGING

JUst a day or two ago I was reading a cousin's facebook post about how stir crzy she was going while being under doctor's orders to keep weight off the foot she had surgery on late in December. Man...I remember that feeling of longing to do more, be more. See, I am no stranger to the ills of life. At one point in my life I suffered a broken ankle/tibia, and a cancer diagnosis plus subsequent surgery and chemo within...36 months? I have had practice with longing to be out of my current situation more than I think is fair.

But when i saw that post, I knew that I needed to say something. WHen I broke my ankle, and when I was recoupingfrom surgery and undergoing chemo, I realized that the longing I was experiencing wasn't fair. Sure it wasn't fair for me to experience, but it also wasn't fair to God. When I wish for a situation to be different, I don't let GOd teach me the lesson he has prepared for me in advance.

TIme's up.

    1. Amen! It's been too long since I shared, and I've been feeling called to write consistently again. I'm excited to remember what I've been through and share it with others.

    1. I think that's my favorite from the entire writing. There's a LOT to unpack in that sentence alone.

    1. Yes, he does. It might be hard to see, but it's definitely there when we work to find it.
